Hi Blue, thanks for the website. May I suggest a tab with different openers you list on the side with the flowchart into what teams these openers go?

A question I have in general is when and if should you move items from a hero augment? Example: I was playing Sylas hero with 7 anima with an emblem on the big croc. I got the croc 2 star and was wondering if I should move the bt and titans. In the end I moved the items but lost nonetheless against a capped dynamo board

Never. You should never move items from a hero augment unit. You’re investing a full augment into that unit — the reality is Hero augments very rarely cap high unless they are just broken. 5-cost boards are the strongest boards in TFT. They always have been and always will be if you can get to them. Of course, in some metas they aren’t common because of how hard it can be to get to them at times, but it is normal to lose to a capped 5-cost board if you are playing reroll in late game, especially if you are playing a vertical. 2nd is good.

has the removal of redemption harmed anima squad with QoQ in a significant way?

    1. Author avatarGM Blue

I would say the removal of Shiv is a bigger deal since that was the best radiant, but Redemption was important too. We lost two major powerful utility Radiants. I am going to just remove it entirely, I am pretty sure QoQ is just bad now that we have a few extra days of stats. It still is positive delta when previously it was one of the best augments for the comp.

Is there a comphrensive list on what is an AP item / What is an AD item / whats a melee item? Im pretty new to the game and i still dont understand which items are which or how to find out

If you click on the Team Builder link at the top of the site (or in this comment) and look at the item section below the builder, you’ll see items categorized. Might help you get a better idea. It’s not perfect 1 to 1 though. An easier way to learn for any specific comp is to just click on the champion portrait which will bring you to the comp page and you can see what items are getting built on the carries for that comp, then look at the openers for that comp. If you have an item for that carry and a good opener for that comp, then just play it until you get more familiar with the game.

Is 8 techie not buffed? how is it not in here in emblems

    1. Author avatarGM Blue

Okay fine. You guys win. There’s a Techie comp now, rejoice: https://tftflow.com/composition/set14/vertical-techie

In all seriousness, I still have hesitations and would prefer seeing it in more games. These type of comps are rough usually because you are playing SO many low quality units, so you really need a LOT of trait power to offset that. They also tend not to cap high due to the amount of low quality trash you are playing on the board. But the stats do look slightly better on 8 Techie this patch as one would expect from the buff, just a comp I would expect to perform not as well at higher elo (unless you can tempo it to fast 9).

      1. pizza

i’m with you, blue. 8 techies does NOT feel good. 1 techie emblem helps, and 2 techie emblems feels great, but just naked/natural 8 tech does not feel like a top 3 comp, feels like a 3-6 comp with the right augments

  7. Anonymous

is techie soo bad that a spat cant save it?

  8. hunt

    no techie emblem comp friend

    1. Anonymous

i think because techie emblem doesnt really enable any new comps. i havent seen anyone go 8 techie since like the first patch, probably just a nice +1 to have but nothing gamechanging. in bruiser techie reroll(and maybe other comps) i saw a variation with techie emblem but thats about it

    2. Author avatarGM Blue

I don’t want to bait people into taking Techie Emblem as their augment. Although I guess I could just make any comp from Techie Emblem B-tier, I don’t know – it’s obviously different if you get the emblem for “free” from Golem. The only reason Exotech Emblem is on site, for example, is because otherwise Vertical Exotech would not exist on site anymore and I know some people like seeing these bad comps that aren’t meta. Anyway, I’ll think about some way to address this long-term. The purpose of TFT Flow is to help you gain LP though, not lose it lol

Thank you for your work! Can Golden Ox be played without the emblem or is it necessary at all times?

Website has been fully updated for Patch 14.5. That doesn’t mean it’s fully accurate yet since we are early into the patch and there may be some hiccups here and there with builds, but generally all champions have been updated to reflect the new item meta and every flowchart has been updated to reflect the changes in the meta for 14.5. A basic summary for those who are interested:

    – Of the new artifacts, only Flickerblade is good. You can play Flickerblade on any champion that uses Rageblade. Any champion that previously used 2 Rageblades will use the item exceptionally well
    – Do not build double Rageblade anymore. It is generally better to build Rageblade + Kraken / Archangel (AD/AP) + Gunblade or some other 3rd item now on Rageblade carries.
    – Void Staff is good on Annie. Outside of that, plays a similar utility role as Shiv
    – Striker’s Flail (new Guardbreaker) is similar to old Guardbreaker and can be built in any circumstances where you would have built the old one. Seems a bit better overall
    – New Sterak’s has solid stats on all AD champions, including backliners. Just generally a broken item currently
    – Kraken’s Fury is strong on any AS champions. It’s so strong with AS that 6 Rapidfire, which received a sizable nerf, is actually just as strong as before as long as you build this item
    – Bastion Morgana is MUCH weaker than before. They nerfed both 6 Bastion and the Bastion Emblem itself. Still broken with Blighting Jewel, but otherwise not nearly as good as before.
    – Lich Bane is actually good on Yuumi now. It was solid before, but now is best-in-slot like you would expect
    – Kog’Maw + Vi reroll is becoming a bit more popular following buffs to both of these units plus the existence of Kraken’s Fury which is quite good on Kog’Maw. The Sterak’s change is likely quite good on Vi too.
    – Fiddlesticks is noticeably weaker with the removal of Redemption. While Spirit Visage is a fine item on Cho’Gath, it cannot make up for losing 6 Bruiser’s absolute best item. Losing Anima Visage also removed a possible Artifact out for the comp. Generally the comp is noticeably worse
    – Golden Ox is performing much better this patch, presumedly due to buff to Graves for early game as well as the fact it uses the new items reasonably well (Annie with Void Staff, Aphelios with buffed Guardbreaker / Kraken)

Some of these reads might end up incorrect in long-term, but that’s where we stand currently on Day 1.

Does strikers flail not need spell crit? i hesitate to build it

The website update times are crazy! Thanks for working so hard, this is the best 😊

  12. Author avatarGM Blue

In process of updating the website for 14.5. It will take a while — there are so many instances of Rageblade in so many comps and the builds will likely change for this (especially for double rageblade builds). Flickerblade looks broken and can be played on any champion that was good with Rageblade, but ESPECIALLY on champions that were good with two Rageblades. As a general rule of thumb, any champion that previously played two Rageblades will only play one now with either Kraken’s Fury (AD) or Archangel (AP).

Striker’s Flail, the new Guardbreaker, looks exceptionally strong. Likely better than it was before and useable in all spots that it was usable before. Also the data is very low on this, but try double Striker’s Flail on some champions and see if it feels good — The stats looked very good on Xayah, for example, but low sample. So go out and test it so we have more data!

As I noted at the end of last patch, please be patient as the site gets updated. The itemization changes are going to impact most comps at least in a small way. It’ll take a little while to update all of them.
