Strategy
Tips & Tricks
  • Bastion Emblem is broken in this line because it gives Morgana a bunch of AP and also helps her stall in the end to win the round. Dynamo Emblem is not as good, but also allows you to play 6 Bastion 4 Dynamo on Level 9
  • Can play Elise over Jhin if no Exotech item for Sejuani
  • It may seem strange to put Gargoyle on a Bastion unit, but Poppy’s ability scales with Armor. As such, chain items are best on her such as Gargoyle, Bramble, Steadfast, and Vow. Solo frontline her until roughly Stage 4 / Stage 5 with this build
  • If you don’t have a Gargoyle build on Poppy, you can simply play all your Bastions in the frontline like normal without solo frontlining Poppy
  • Starting Stage 4, you can consider placing some Bastions on the opposite side of Poppy. Try and ensure Poppy still gets majority aggro, but this ensures she doesn’t die too quickly and can be healed up with Gunblade

Economy Strategy
  1. Do not spend gold on leveling this stage. If you have 2-stars and a good item, you can consider playing to win some rounds. Otherwise lose streak is common for stage 2.
  2. Roll to 33 gold, buying any unit that will be part of the level 4 or 5 board. You can also buy units that will be part of the level 6+ board, but you can sell those if your bench fills and you need to buy other units. Rolling to 33 gold is advisable because it allows you to save back up to 50g by 3-5.
  3. Do not level if you haven’t hit your 3-star 1-costs yet. If you have your 3-stars, you generally should still stay level 5 if you can win or if leveling to 6 would put you below 20g. Try to get above 40g this round.
  4. Ideally above 50g, level 5 at this point or level 6 with 3-stars.
  5. If you haven’t hit your 3-stars yet, roll to ~52g each turn. You don’t want to roll to perfect 50g as any units you buy in shop will put you below 50g. If you have 8+ copies of an itemized 1-cost, you can roll to 40g or 30g every round instead. Level to 6 once you hit your 3-stars.
  6. If you haven’t hit your 3-stars yet, you must roll until you hit them. You should level to 6 after hitting. In some rare games, you will miss or spend so much gold you can never catch up. These games will usually result in bottom 4 placements.
  7. Level to 7 if you can stay above ~20g. Otherwise stay level 6.
  8. Level to 7.
  9. Level to 8 if you are in bottom half of lobby HP and are losing rounds. If you are higher HP and feel stable, you can wait until next turn.
  10. Level to 8 if you haven’t already. Roll for any remaining units necessary for the comp. If stable, you can try to go 9. Most games you will end on level 8.
  11. Level to 9 whenever possible. This is rare, but can happen in the games you have a chance of winning.

I think they must have done something to this comp. I was getting top 3s pretty easily and now I’m struggling not to get 6th or worse in my last 8ish games. Even with Bastion emblem and perfect items and hitting everything. I’m in D2 so maybe the ELO there just doesn’t tolerate 1 cost rerolls as much. The DPS output just seems insanely low.

Worth the wait morg is really good

On L9 is it better to get 3 Dynamo or 2 Cyberboss with Kobuko?

i don’t think this is an S-tier comp unless you hit very early. lose streaking to get items just sets you immensely behind since you are relying on a 1-cost carry, but you also must have the blue buff. i would probably only play this with bastion emblem or blue buff from the start, or get the blighting jewel

It’s on the line between S-tier and A-tier for a default comp. It has absurd stats for a 1-cost reroll, the easiest to play comp playstyle to exist. Literally anyone can 1-trick this to at least GM right now even factoring in how contested it is. I genuinely think it is an LP printer for anyone who knows how to play 1-cost reroll at least a little. I’ve seen people top 4 with this without Blue Buff for several stages. The opener is one of the strongest in the game. The comp stabilizes way too hard on 2 stars and then again on 3 stars.

It’s not oppressively strong and I am considering moving it down to A-tier for the default line, but if you are below Masters this is 100% the line you should play the most of because it is almost impossible to play poorly, has strong early and mid game and has a surprisingly solid winrate for a 1-cost reroll comp meaning it caps reasonably high. It’s definitely not S-tier in GM+, but it’s very hard for a reroll comp to default be S-tier in GM+ regardless.

interesting. i’m admittedly not a GM player, but have been GM in the past and have hovered mid diamond the past 4-5 sets without investing much time. currently mid emerald looking to hit diamond and i’ve been spamming this to very poor results. a very easy 1st if you hit early and have good items, but many many 4-6ths if i don’t hit on the rolldown or miss a key item. i definitely know how to economically handle a 1-cost reroll comp (actually my favorite style to play hence why i’m spamming it even though i’m losing) but i must be positioning poorly. i’ll keep at it, but to me this is solidly A-tier, about as good as marksman vanguard and slightly more consistent to hit. it’s also possible that i’ve got in the wrong combination of units at level 6/7/8. do you prefer hitting the 6 bastion benchmark 4 bastions and fill out dynamos first?

        1. Author avatarGM Blue

Play whichever one you hit more upgrades for. 6 Bastion is probably slightly better, but in an individual game you just play whichever you have the upgrades for so you can stop rolling sooner. I’m going to lower this to A-tier for Default lines, I do think it’s more positioning intensive than most 1-cost rerolls traditionally are which makes it harder to pilot. Also I think I underestimate how easy it is to play these strategies because I’ve seen many people make errors playing reroll (e.g: rolling for Jax 3 when they shouldn’t, not adapting to push levels in circumstances where they hit 9 Morgana and only 3 Poppy, bad augment choices, greeding items too long, etc.), so it’s not as easy to 1-trick as I am saying. All of these micro-decisions add up and explain why people get such varying results.

I have to say I don’t understand why you don’t have a warmogs in the itemization guide is hp not better in general even if poppy items scale with armor. what should we do with the belts? Redemption is pretty much locked out because of the blue buff.
I think you really need a morg 2 and poppy 2 on 2-1 or 2-2 otherwise this is just too hard with the dynamo and other morg comps.

    nah they found us

  7. 463

Is shyvana always the best pick? Have seen some variations of this with miss fortune and even elise instead, is the dynamo she carries worth it at all times? Also, is the 4 bastion, 4 dyanmo, 2 cyberboss version worth it to cap out into at the end?

    1. Kid

depend on who you used to carry, if you use morgana I prolly say 6 bastion is way better since she need bunch of meat frontline, if you use elise she have higher burst potential which you can flex it to otherwise than 6 bastion like 4 bas 4 dynamo 2 cyber you said.
