Sorry to say but the website had became unusable for me now.
I used to use it directly while in-game, during the augment selection but now it takes way too much time to find what i want.
It seems that the Emblem lines are broken – they don’t show in the Item conditions, and nothing shows when filtering for Emblem
EDIT 02: Think I fixed the core issue. Thanks!
EDIT: I haven’t fixed the root issue — the behavior is unintended, but I know what caused it and disabled it so they are back for now. Going to investigate the actual issue and hopefully fix it.
Thanks for reporting this — Probably one of the changes I pushed today. They still work in Set 15, didn’t think to check Set 14. Will try and figure out what the issue is.
Okay I lied: Months = 12 hours. There are now flowcharts. This is it though, I spent the day before PBE launched working on this, but now that PBE is live, there is no more time to work on this. So I know there will still be some unhappiness about the change, but you now have option of flowchart or list view. You can switch between them using the toggle in upper-right. It’s not the EXACT same as before, but it’s close enough. Please remember that there are over 50% more lines and 4 more tiers than the old format, so it was never going to be as simple even if I kept the old format.
Lastly, there might be some bugginess because this entire page was made over the course of 3 days. Normally design + implementation of a new page takes at least 2 weeks. Anyway, onwards and upwards.
Hey man thanks for the effort. You really putting in work for the TFT community, ngl in my opinion your impact on the whole experiencse is only second to MortDog
looking forword to your work in set 15 also
thanks
Got to be honest the previous flow chart was much more intuitive and it was what set this page apart from the rest of the TFT websites.
There are at least 5 doing tier lists but previously this was my go to website just because of the simplicity of the flowcharts
It’s genuinely interesting to me that you put out the differentiator for the website being flowcharts, rather than the fact that this is the only website that specifically focuses on ranking lines which to me is the only unique value proposition TFT Flow has. Yeah there are 5 other sites using tier lists, all of them use it to rank comps, not comps with specific conditions. This is also what the old website was focused on.
Anyway, I guess it’s not obvious and never will be obvious why flowcharts are both inefficient and incredibly frustrating to work with for presenting this amount of information. All that matters to some users is the fact they are easy to read. And that’s fine, it’s a valuable insight to some extent. Maybe I should have shown what the old format would look like if you suddenly increased the number of colors to 7 and doubled the number of flowcharts.
Maybe at some point I will put in the hours trying to find a way to make literal flowcharts work as another view option, despite their MANY drawbacks. But it won’t be for months (unless somehow I get everything else I need to get done quickly) — it is a much lower priority now because this is nearly a 1-to-1 replacement for the list view of the old layout and a significant percentage of old users used that. So now the only unhappy users at this point are the ones who were using the flowchart view AND aren’t able to adopt the new layout. As much as I would like to make those users (such as yourself) happy, I really need to start working on other parts of the website now for Set 15.
EDIT: I also want to note for anyone who thinks “Well the site is named TFT Flow, so obviously the flowcharts made it special.” — I tried REALLY hard to keep literal flowcharts. But somewhere along the way, I realized there were no real flowcharts on the original design. It was all 2 node paths: A condition and a comp. And with that realization, it became clear why so much of the headache existed for keeping literal flowcharts: There are much more efficient ways to represent a two-way relationship. If there were complex paths, literal flowcharts make a lot more sense. But when you have hundreds of starting nodes and 40 ending nodes with zero crossover, all as pair relationships, it really starts to becomes obvious that flowcharts are not the best method for presenting the sheer amount of information I wanted to present.
The flowchart style and simplicity of each tab was way better than the current iteration. This feels much less intuitive, and I have to read much more to use these charts
What the heck man, this site is an absolute masterpiece as a study tool, could not imagine a better resource. Heres to hoping you get the support and recognition you deserve for creating and maintaining this site.
This is a massive improvement and imo makes the site usable again. I’d be curious to see traffic analytics on how much each page (Flow vs. Tier vs. Conditions) is used.
A UX suggestion – add the Augments filter up top with the other filters, with a dropdown for Silver/Gold/Prismatic. It feels buried where it is, and it took me a while to realize it was even there.
Not providing the actual numbers, but it’s even split between flowchart and tier list page, about half that for conditions page. So if there were 10 people on home page, there is another 10 on tier list page and 5 on the condition page. I don’t count this as “truth” though, since I think the home page is inflated from being the old page and arguably “tier list” is more lucrative to click than “conditions list” so maybe the real numbers lean heavier toward this page than that, but it doesn’t really matter to me as long as people have somewhere on the site that they like using.
I’m SUPER curious what you are talking about when it comes to the Augment filters and what you are seeing. I don’t get how it could possible look buried no matter what screen size you are on. Each filter is directly under the header of the section it filters. Also I am purposefully not using a dropdown — Dropdowns save space, but when you have only a few options and spare space it’s better to use buttons because it saves you a click and makes the options immediately apparent.
Here’s what it looks like to me. Even on mobile, it’s directly below the header for the augment section with smaller buttons (and the Minimum tier wraps to second line):
I initially didn’t realize that Artifacts, Radiant, and Emblems were all under a higher level grouping of “Item Conditions”, so I thought those were the only filters available to me. It took a bit to realize that there were other groupings of conditions below the fold. Maybe solved by collapsing all the groups be defualt
Not going to make the sections collapsed by default because a large-ish number of users want to CTRL + F to find the condition they are looking for. Now you can just open the page, instantly CTRL + F and find whatever you are looking for, regardless of whether it is an item, augment, or once familiar with the site, opener / custom condition. Maybe I’ll add a nav bar at top that scrolls to each section, but kind of felt that collapsible sections handled that. Anyway, I don’t think it is a major UX pain point, but I’ll note it in case I have spare time to try and improve it another time.
Added a toggle that allows you to hide descriptions. They are hidden by default, but you can show them and it will remember your setting. Also added tooltips to the icons so that you can hide descriptions, but hover over the image if you need the full tooltip. Should make reading this page even faster.
This is the replacement for the old format. It was thrown together quite quickly, but I think it generally looks and feels good. If you use the “List View” on the old website, this should feel very familiar. If you only used the “Flowchart” view, this might take some getting used to but is quite similar overall. Enjoy!
