Tips & Tricks
- Kayle always wants Rageblade, which can get paired with JG + Striker combo, a 2nd Rageblade, Gunblade, Giant Slayer, Striker’s, Rabadon’s, Jeweled Gauntlet, etc.
- Build a Bud and Worth the Wait are only strong if you hit Kayle as it allows you to push levels instead of roll. It is not good if you hit the other 1-costs in the comp.
- Aatrox 3 is likely better than Zac 3 for two reasons: 1) He’s a better tank with 6 Jug; and 2) You want Zac to die so all Wraith healing is guaranteed to go onto Kayle which makes her less likely to die to random backline access
- If you get Socialite on Aatrox or Zac, make sure to move around the unit to make sure both your Kayle and frontline are on the marked units. Read the Power Up!
- Golden Edge Power Up on Kayle is quite good if you can get it on 2-1 with Rageblade. Over 9000 can be good too since it has high probability of rolling AP / AS
- Stats prefer Braum on 9, but recommend considering Zyra as well especially if you have any items for her. Both are acceptable. Zyra is probably better if you can itemize her.
- Kayle reroll is not like other 1-cost reroll comps, so you can partially ignore the econ strategy guide. You MUST get to 9 early stage 5 ideally or it is likely a bot 4. This means you can generally only play Kayle from good spots. This is NOT a forceable line.

Economy Strategy
- Do not spend gold on leveling this stage. If you have 2-stars and a good item, you can consider playing to win some rounds. Otherwise lose streak is common for stage 2.
- Roll to 33 gold, buying any unit that will be part of the level 4 or 5 board. You can also buy units that will be part of the level 6+ board, but you can sell those if your bench fills and you need to buy other units. Rolling to 33 gold is advisable because it allows you to save back up to 50g by 3-5.
- Do not level if you haven’t hit your 3-star 1-costs yet. If you have your 3-stars, you generally should still stay level 5 if you can win or if leveling to 6 would put you below 20g. Try to get above 40g this round.
- Ideally above 50g, level 5 at this point or level 6 with 3-stars.
- If you haven’t hit your 3-stars yet, roll to ~52g each turn. You don’t want to roll to perfect 50g as any units you buy in shop will put you below 50g. If you have 8+ copies of an itemized 1-cost, you can roll to 40g or 30g every round instead. Level to 6 once you hit your 3-stars.
- If you haven’t hit your 3-stars yet, you must roll until you hit them. You should level to 6 after hitting. In some rare games, you will miss or spend so much gold you can never catch up. These games will usually result in bottom 4 placements.
- Level to 7 if you can stay above ~20g. Otherwise stay level 6.
- Level to 7.
- Level to 8 if you are in bottom half of lobby HP and are losing rounds. If you are higher HP and feel stable, you can wait until next turn.
- Level to 8 if you haven’t already. Roll for any remaining units necessary for the comp. If stable, you can try to go 9. Most games you will end on level 8.
- Level to 9 whenever possible. This is rare, but can happen in the games you have a chance of winning.
Thoughts on Mittens?
What are your thoughts on final form?
I heard final form is really only takeable on high resource portals like crab rave/scuttle puddle
big edit to this, I meant for final ascent. I assume if final form is not listed it’s because it doesnt provide enough power to her to win fights earlier in the game/late game
I would remove all Crown of demacia builds from the current patch with Akali roaming free. It’s worse than taking a bad augment because it sets you up for failure to randomly lose rounds instantly when she snipes your carry.
Interestingly enough, I found much better win rates by going 9 as soon as possible after finding Sett. Trying to hit 2* doesn’t provide THAT much more tankiness to the front line, but hitting level 9 Kayle makes you much stronger.
Why is demacia wrown such a great pick if archangel staff is not (not even as an alt build)
crown : 10AP every 2 second (and 10ad) => 50 in 10
AA : 30ap every 5 seconds => 60 in 10
Are the base stats of the items making such a drastic difference ?
Remember that kayle can also competently use the AD stats for crown
Crown base stats 30 Attack Speed, compared to none on Archangel + Mana regen is wasted on Kayle, in any case you get another rod instead of AA you would also make JG
so far i played 3 different comps from your guides and got bot 4 with all of them. your guides suck and your website sucks, sorry im gonna use bunnymuffins
Hijacking this comment to address anyone who sees these comments in the future — I’ll leave them here because it’s kind of funny honestly. I don’t take any of this personally — it’s just a side effect of allowing anyone to comment. One behavior I’d like to stop early though is anyone in the future who, in an effort to defend me or my site, chooses to bad mouth another site like Bunnymuffin’s. I don’t care where people get their info from, so please don’t do that. Otherwise enjoy the chuckle 🙂
and usually im 10 HP at stage 5-1. this comp is not S-tier it sucks donkey b***s
I hit kayle 3 at stage 5. how tf am i supposed to be level 9 at stage 5
Lol I am not going to approve any more of your comments if you are going to spam the comment section from tilting over 1 game, but I’ll allow these through to at least make this point clear: If you didn’t hit Kayle 3 until Stage 5, obviously you are going 8th. That’s just RNG — on average you should have Kayle 3 by 3-5 or sooner. Also if you’re committing Kayle with fewer than 3 Kayles / some number of Aatroxes and Zacs / good components on 2-1, you’re also just going to lose out.
You can’t just commit to a reroll line unless you have units from that reroll line AND good components for it. And if you miss by Stage 4 in a 1-cost reroll line, you’re guaranteed 6th at best so it’s better to just understand and accept that if you low roll that hard. This is true of every reroll line in the history of TFT — you can miss. It’s also why a lot of the top level players only commit reroll from very good spots (and even then, can miss — part of TFT’s RNG). Maybe consider banning yourself from playing Kayle unless it’s Scuttle Puddle OR you have an upgraded Kayle opener with good components — that will make it much more likely for you to go 9.
to play kayle reroll you have to hit early kayle two with rageblade then on top of that be able to make at least minimum 40 gold 3-1 or else you will never hit the 9 cap or even close to 10 for final
would be nice if you rewrite the econ strategy for this instead just say ‘it partially works’ id like to see detailed breakdown on how to hit level 9 efficiently. im getting bot 4 with this comp cuz i dont know how to econ to level 9. bad guide
Almost everything is the same up until 4-1, although truthfully if you do not have level 6 Kayle 3 by 3-5 you’re already behind. The way to reach 9 every game will vary unfortunately, it’s not the easiest to write a guide for. Sometimes you need to take gold from an econ augment to get there. Sometimes you won most of Stage 3 and you can take combat. Sometimes you’ll have perfect items and good combat augments and will be stable on 1-stars going to 9. Sometimes you aren’t stable, but you saved enough HP in early game to sac until 5-1 to go 9. Sometimes you need to roll a bit on 8 to make it to 9. The reality is you need to use your head a bit and adapt based on your spot, which is unlike most 1-cost reroll. I might try and write an econ guide JUST for this comp eventually, but it would still come down to “play based on your spot” which is where lower elo players typically fall apart understandably.
Add the unceasing augment. Gives juggernauts a shield after one of them dies.
It might be too expensive, but I strongly suspect Dr Mundo is the better tank to itemize/power up in this comp. He is weirdly strong for his cost. Even a 2 star Mundo is stronger than a 3 star Aatrox. And he is definitely the strongest tank in this whole comp once you get Braum. Easily beats out 2 star Sett and 3 star Udyr.
My experience as well. Mundo goes where he pleases.
The flickerblade build has changed. Looked up 3 item kayle 3 with 6 juggernaut + flickerblade on kayle in emerald+ and they show eon+rageblade or gs+gunblade as her best build above 50 game sample size. Up to you to list those in her build, but jg guard look solid for their sample being in the hundreds
Updated, thanks — Pretty sure the EoN + Rageblade build is very good in this meta. There is a ton of backline access (and about to be even more with the GP mentor comp on the rise), so pretty sure it is bis. Feel free to always call this kind of stuff out if you see it and I will update if I agree 👍
I’ve played this composition several times, and with Bronze for Life you get 21% damage amplification and 6% durability. I’ve finished in first place every time I’ve taken this augment. You might want to consider adding it as a tier condition.
It doesn’t feel strong enough to be a +1 tier, takes too long to get all the bonuses at Lv9, stage 4- mid 5 you don’t really get max value. Decent in spots where you’re already turbo ahead and can get to Lv9 by like 5-1
Why is Zhonya’s Paradox good on Kayle?
Is prismatic ticket not good for this?
Is final form good for Kayle?
how important is the naafiri + Aatrox to 3 star? Is going for level 9 a higher priority? I struggle to hit 9 every time i play this comp
Low priority — Naafiri almost never and Aatrox if you can itemize Aatrox instead of Zac because you hit a bunch of copies of him but not Zac for example. Or if you are super rich and hitting a lot during your rolldown. There are so many tank options in this comp that you should just push levels once you hit Kayle most of the time. I’ll update the tips section later, especially since i am sure the 3 star icons are baiting people. Will prob just remove them.
What I dont really get is why you play juggernauts while rerolling for a 3 star zac also. Wouldnt you want ur zac be as strong as possible?
Stars are Born, which can get you to 20g very quickly and get you a healthy frontline with Vi/Mundo 2* and a guaranteed Kayle 2*, seems good here. Not Build-a-Bud or Worth-the-Wait good, but good.
Very good, got first 🙂
