Tips & Tricks
  • Before Jhin, can either play Kai'Sa or a Sniper. Kai'Sa looks slightly better, especially since she's a good item holder for Jhin's items if you can't find Riven 2 for extra items.
  • Protector's Vow is an especially strong item on Cho'Gath in the early game because it helps him cast more often, stacking his HP up. In Stage 5 you can consider moving it to another unit and replacing it with a max HP item like Spirit Visage, Bramble, Dragon's Claw, etc.

Economy Strategy
  1. Do not spend gold on leveling this stage. If you have 2-stars and a good item, you can consider playing to win some rounds. Otherwise lose streak is common for stage 2.
  2. Roll to 33 gold, buying any unit that will be part of the level 4 or 5 board. You can also buy units that will be part of the level 6+ board, but you can sell those if your bench fills and you need to buy other units. Rolling to 33 gold is advisable because it allows you to save back up to 50g by 3-5.
  3. Do not level if you haven't hit your 3-star 1-costs yet. If you have your 3-stars, you generally should still stay level 5 if you can win or if leveling to 6 would put you below 20g. Try to get above 40g this round.
  4. Ideally above 50g, level 5 at this point or level 6 with 3-stars.
  5. If you haven't hit your 3-stars yet, roll to ~52g each turn. You don't want to roll to perfect 50g as any units you buy in shop will put you below 50g. If you have 8+ copies of an itemized 1-cost, you can roll to 40g or 30g every round instead. Level to 6 once you hit your 3-stars.
  6. If you haven't hit your 3-stars yet, you must roll until you hit them. You should level to 6 after hitting. In some rare games, you will miss or spend so much gold you can never catch up. These games will usually result in bottom 4 placements.
  7. Level to 7 if you can stay above ~20g. Otherwise stay level 6.
  8. Level to 7.
  9. Level to 8 if you are in bottom half of lobby HP and are losing rounds. If you are higher HP and feel stable, you can wait until next turn.
  10. Level to 8 if you haven't already. Roll for any remaining units necessary for the comp. If stable, you can try to go 9. Most games you will end on level 8.
  11. Level to 9 whenever possible. This is rare, but can happen in the games you have a chance of winning.

had 3 ezreal very early, had dawncore on ezreal, cho 3 (early protectors vow&3 item.), after that had kaisa 3 early(3 item with ezreal). 2 level tahm. no riven. was level 7.

    placed 5th. weird

  2. Anonymous

Everybody is trashing this comp, but I got first place with dawncore, the second place had a 3 star karma.

Focusing on stacking Ezreal seems to be the key. It is very much dependent on the artifact tbh.

  3. Anonymous

why not recommending sunder and burn/wound? am i missing something obvious?

  4. Anonymous

great comp but need combat augments or things that let u scale later (max health %)

    1. Eganons

No pivot (+21% HP +21% AD and AP) = 3th. This comp is just bad…

  5. whatever

absolute garbage of a comp even if you hit everything early
    b tier more like f

  6. Thurski

Healing orbs saves this comp. Kept my cho and riven alive throughout the playthrough. easy 1st.

  7. Eganons

Most comments are complaining about this com, so I’ll add mine:

HORRIBLE comp. You can hit Cho 3, Ez 3, Pantheon 3, everything bis, early Riven, TK 2 etc. 8th and 6th

Why bother with this when you can triple click on Kindred and win?

Well-detailed guide, it’s just this one comp that is bad!

    1. Eganons

Update: I saw this comp winning for the first time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳

Someone hit Ezreal FOUR. After ultra loss-streaks and 0,0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001 HP left, they managed to get Ezreal 4 and win!!!!

  13. Sejuanchi

I’m not understanding the new item suggestions

    1. Author avatarGM Blue

New? Are you talking about how Lissandra items were still in Strong Conditions or Xayah item was in strong conditions? I have a bug right now where removing the champion doesn’t seem to remove it from Strong Conditions, but those are old items that didn’t get removed. I don’t see anything new here. I removed those old ones though now.

      1. Sejuanchi

Sorry for not being specific, new with respect to last season page. My main confusion is, how am I supposed to read the default items option? I understand that the 3 suggested items are “BIS” if you don’t get artifacts/emblems/radiants. But then, all the dropdown options confuse me a bit. I think Cho dropdown here is a good example of a confunsing dropdown. Thanks for all your work btw

        1. Pinernals

I think you should read it slot by slot. Cho’gath’s items seem to be very flexible and most of them are HP-oriented. It’s easier to explain it on Ezreal. IE is core item and there are no exceptions, mana item is flexible – Both Shojin and Blue buff work well so you can slam whatever you can, but I guess Shojin is slightly better and that’s why it’s a primary option. Similarly the 3rd slot for DMG Amp – Deathblade is the best, but Striker’s Flail and Giant Slayer are also playable. The new build descriptions are very convenient since it gives you more flexibility without overly focusing on BIS-Components, which might prevent from losing HP and overall frustration over RNG.

          1. Sejuanchi

Great, that explains a lot. Thank you.

I personally don’t like Kayle’s Exaltation, but it was the best of the 4 artefacts i got so i decided to give it a try, Shojin + IE + Kayle’s Exaltation felt pretty nice in late and clutched like crazy sometimes killing 2-3 units in one single cast from Ez

Titanic Hidra with cho gath is great if you can scale him
