Tips & Tricks
  • Vayne was B-patched and is no longer as strong as it was in Patch 16.7. Her buffs were reverted (along with Kai’Sa’s buffs) to try and make the World Championship for Set 16 more balanced.
  • Play and upgrade as many Demacian units as possible to unlock Galio, then drop to the 5 Demacia board shown.
  • Can go for Vayne 3 if you get an augment that helps you hit it such as Heroic Grab Bag
  • Can play Skarner over Taric
  • Vayne generally wants two bow items + Gunblade, Deathblade, IE, etc.

Economy Strategy
  1. Level to 4 if you have upgrades and a good item to place on one of those upgrades.
  2. Level to 5, unless on 3 loss streak.
  3. Level to 6 if on 4+ win streak (scout to see if necessary in high elo) or can stay above 40g.
  4. Level to 6, unless you would go below 30g. If you have to stay level 5 due to low gold (rare), then level to 6 on 3-5.
  5. Level to 7 if you can stay above 30g, otherwise stay level 6.
  6. Level to 7.
  7. Level to 8. Roll for desired comp until stable. “Stable” changes depending on rank, items, augments, composition, and patch. Melee carries and tanks get the biggest spike for 2-stars. Usually stable involves 2-star tank or carry and some other supporting 2-stars. Try not to roll below 10g.
  8. If you are weak (e.g., have no 2-star 4-costs), consider rolling again to 10g here. If you are stable, save gold to go 9.
  9. If you are low HP and haven’t 2-starred your carry and tank, roll to 0g. If you have medium to high HP with an upgraded + itemized 4-cost unit and some other upgrades, save gold to go 9.
  10. If high HP, consider waiting until 5-5 to go level 9. If medium HP, consider going level 9 if you can roll 20g or wait until 5-5. If low HP and can afford to go 9, do so even if you have almost no gold to roll on 9. If you can’t afford to go 9 this game, roll every turn for upgrades.
  11. Level to 9 if possible. From this point onward, look to level to 9. Acknowledge games where level 9 is not possible and roll every turn on 8 to preserve placements.
  12. For max cap games, you can either roll on 9 or level to 10. If you are itemizing a 5-cost carry and it is 1-starred, roll on 9. If you have all your main itemized units upgraded, level to 10.

AD Kai’Sa and Vayne were both B-patched back to their 16.6 states, meaning this comp is no longer meta. Do not play anymore (or be aware you will be playing an off meta comp).

  2. Anonymous

comp is very stable in this meta. easy top 4 even if contested because you save a lot of hp early mid game, but for top 1 it’s quire hard

whats the ludens build? cant find anything on statsites

    1. Author avatarGM Blue

This comp used to be the only Demacia comp on the website and used to include Lux, which Luden’s looked okay on at the start of the set. It was just there as a legacy inclusion for that old version of the comp that I forgot to remove when it got changed to a primarily Vayne comp. Removed it along with Sniper’s (also a Lux artifact). Thanks.

        i see, thanks

  4. I love GM Blue's website

I feel like the placement isn’t it. Every time I tried to adapt it with Vayne in 3rd row, it’s been playing out poorly for me. I’m probably doing something wrong tho.

    1. Author avatarGM Blue

Updated not to use it, realistically it doesn’t matter much. If you 3rd row her with no one in the corner, she should roll back into the corner with her first ability cast, but then she goes away from the corner anyway so it doesn’t really matter and it opens the possibility of getting wrapped if she gets somehow targeted by a melee unit before her first cast.

  5. Dutzie

Welcome back Vayne, I’ve missed you

  6. Verdant Leaf

Hey Blue! You should probably move the Zilean version out of this comp, as it doesn’t contain Vayne, and this comp. page is specifically about Demacia Vayne.

Longshot emblem lux with vayne/kaisa is strong here. Just replaces orn for kog to get void buff on kaisa aswel

  8. Dodo

might be a stupid question but why is vayne on C row?

  9. Rance

Might want to look over the items recommended on Garen here – stoneplate should be pretty awful on him, no?

    1. Author avatarGM Blue

Yeah it’s not ideal. Awful is a bit of an exaggeration since you’ll slam whatever you need to in early / midgame, but in an ideal world you have better tank items. Updated, thanks!

  10. Cleon

In one game i wanted to go Sona reroll, but I took the opportunity to play Veigar since i dropped a lot of rods, and i have to say i was really surprised by how the comp performed. Since Demacia units are very durable, it allows Veigar to deal a lot of dps. Obviously, this is the capped level 9 version of the comp. At level 8 you simply play 7 Demacia + Veigar + Swain/Taric 2. If I find similar spots again, I’ll definitely play this comp again because it looks very interesting.

this build is ass. cant unlock galio and i was poor the entire game

      Skill issue

    2. Selby

play from 7 demacia comp at 8, while holding kogmaw on your bench. Only transition at lvl 9 and already got galio. This comp doesnt need vayne 3 that much, ziggs 2 will get the job done

    3. Anonymous

How do you deal with Fizz?

  13. Roygbiv

This comp is ass in new patch, couldn’t stabilize with early vayne 3

  14. Snek

Collector vayne needs guinsoo, her attackspeed is too low with 1 kraken

rageblade worst stats highest sample size . XD

      1. Author avatarGM Blue

I actually think he’s right, at least that Rageblade is better than IE with Collector. I just thought IE would be good cause it’s usually good with Collector, but stats suggest it’s ever so slightly worse than bow items like Rageblade and GS. It’s all super close though, don’t think it matters much for 3rd item.

        1. Lucas

Where are you getting your stats that say it’s ever so slightly worse? I see a huge difference and in practice, it’d matter a lot because if you think about it you’re losing tons of AD just to auto more, which counteracts the whole point of having kraken which is her best item as it increases the damage of her ability. By the time the AS ramps enough to be useful, the DPS break even point of AS is too high for any fight to make a difference. There’s a reason why Vayne does damage quickly and Kai’sa complements it with ramping damage.

  15. Stoothis

What is the Deadlier Blades build?

    1. Author avatarGM Blue

Kraken + Flexible 3rd. Can be GS, Gunblade, another Kraken, Rageblade, whatever you got.

  16. thug

Stats show snipers focus being pretty terrible on vayne and kai sa. Why would this be?

    1. Author avatarGM Blue

Gives them more of what they already have, which is meh. Sniper’s Focus was on Lux when you played her in this line (sometimes you still do). But putting a Sniper’s on a Longshot unit that already gets damage amp is whatever. General rule of TFT is you never want more of what you already have because it scales additively with itself. You want to combine different stats that combine multiplicatively. It’s good on Lux because not only does her ability hit backline, she also gets AP from her trait which scales multiplicatively with damage amp.

Merry Christmas! How do you feel about the Vayne and Lucian Senna Augment? Feel like it’s viable if you have the items for Lucian Senna.

    1. rash

I just win a game with 30 hp with that augment. 3 star vayne + senna w shojin. OP or I think easly S+
