Tips & Tricks
- This is NOT a reroll comp and does not require Bilgewater opener, but it is ideally played from Bilgewater opener to get more Gangplanks from Bilgewater shop.
- The comp rolls deep on 8 (NOT level 7) for 2 star Ambessa, Swain, and Bel’Veth while also holding all extra Gangplanks.
- For the Bilgewater shop, prioritize Gangplank and duplicators. If you need to buy an Illaoi or Graves for tempo early game, that’s acceptable. Otherwise, exclusively use Serpents on Gangplank (aggressively reroll shop) until you 3 star him.
- After getting Gangplank 3, buy stats from the Bilgewater shop.
- This comp requires MANY items. In an ideal world, you can itemize Gangplank, Ambessa, Swain, and Bel’Veth. In a game without item augments, you can only realistically itemize 2 units. Therefore item augments are very high priority.
- Glove and Sword are the best components for this line. Most carousels you should go for one of these if you’re not sure what else to get.
- Outside of item augments, combat augments are ideal. One econ augment on 2-1 is acceptable (especially Slammin’ since it gives a component). The ideal augment distribution is Econ / Item (2-1) > Item / Combat (3-2) > Item / Combat (4-2).
- Darkin Scythe works better with Ambessa’s kit than Gangplank’s, so if you have 3 proper items for Gangplank, consider putting it on Ambessa over Gangplank (assuming Ambessa 2 vs. Gangplank 3).
- Rod is a difficult component to kill in this line. The best two options are Crownguard on Swain or Rageblade on Bel’Veth
- Since Swain is the most contested unit in the game, in some cases you will not be able to hit Swain 2. In these games, consider dropping Sion for Wukong 2 or, if you unlocked it (rare), Rift Herald 2. The tradeoff of losing Noxus for a 2-star 4-cost tank is fine

Economy Strategy
- Level to 4 if you have upgrades and a good item to place on one of those upgrades.
- Level to 5, unless on 3 loss streak.
- Level to 6 if on 4+ win streak (scout to see if necessary in high elo) or can stay above 40g.
- Level to 6, unless you would go below 30g. If you have to stay level 5 due to low gold (rare), then level to 6 on 3-5.
- Level to 7 if you can stay above 30g, otherwise stay level 6.
- Level to 7.
- Level to 8. Roll for desired comp until stable. “Stable” changes depending on rank, items, augments, composition, and patch. Melee carries and tanks get the biggest spike for 2-stars. Usually stable involves 2-star tank or carry and some other supporting 2-stars. Try not to roll below 10g.
- If you are weak (e.g., have no 2-star 4-costs), consider rolling again to 10g here. If you are stable, save gold to go 9.
- If you are low HP and haven’t 2-starred your carry and tank, roll to 0g. If you have medium to high HP with an upgraded + itemized 4-cost unit and some other upgrades, save gold to go 9.
- If high HP, consider waiting until 5-5 to go level 9. If medium HP, consider going level 9 if you can roll 20g or wait until 5-5. If low HP and can afford to go 9, do so even if you have almost no gold to roll on 9. If you can’t afford to go 9 this game, roll every turn for upgrades.
- Level to 9 if possible. From this point onward, look to level to 9. Acknowledge games where level 9 is not possible and roll every turn on 8 to preserve placements.
- For max cap games, you can either roll on 9 or level to 10. If you are itemizing a 5-cost carry and it is 1-starred, roll on 9. If you have all your main itemized units upgraded, level to 10.

solo leveling a half decent opener? ive gotten it 3 times and can force this comp pretty easily
Since this build needs so many cloaks, instead of kraken I also like titans on Bel’Veth: QSS + HOJ + Titans. As for augments, I went first in low masters with Warlord’s honor. It gives all of your vanqs and slayers extra stats, can’t be bad.
Component buffet and component heist are very good with this, 12-16 items.
add vanq emblem as a +1 tier condition, good on belveth
Agreed, added. Thanks!
Do you play Bilge 3 the entire game?
The bonus hp from sweet treats can be pretty strong since Bel’Veth gets 33% max hp on her cast + artifacts are good in this line
Hey Blue, you list RFC as an A-tier condition—who does it go on?
It goes on Bel’Veth, but the build isn’t listed on this page yet
Well i tried it from a darkin scythe opener and i think I had quite good tempo, but felt extremely weak on 16.2 and went 8th. https://www.metatft.com/player/euw1/Helmi-PUK?match=EUW1_7675819462&tab=2
I don’t think Scythe is good anymore (at least for this build) since 16.2 fixed the bug that allowed it to crit (and it would do so once you got Vanquisher activated). I personally would go Bow and put it on Rek’Sai early and just build them as an item holder for Bel’Veth. As for your game, you didn’t hit GP3 which is a huge power spike and probably why you didn’t feel strong. If you don’t hit GP3 you should itemize Ambessa and Bel’Veth and in your game that would have been really good since you could have had near-BIS itemization for both of those units especially if you had opted to go bow instead of scythe and you would have easily had a better placement.
Thanks for posting this, it’s the first I’ve heard of this comp. I don’t quite understand in what spot I would want to angle this? If I have a Bilger opener wouldn’t I just prefer Graves 3*? Under which conditions would I prefer this? Do I just play this from a RekSai opener?
Angle it from a spot where you can’t play around Graves. This line doesn’t depend on Bilgewater nearly as much (hence why the Korean player was able to 1 trick it) as Graves does. Graves doesn’t want Bilgewater any later than 2-2 usually. This comp can start playing Bilgewater whenever. So you ideally play this from a tempo win streak melee opener. Doesn’t need to be Rek’Sai. Could be Qiyana, Briar, Gangplank himself, whatever. If you slammed melee items to tempo early game, can angle this for a top 4 (the comp almost never wins).
Oh that is sweet actually because I never know what to angle from a Qiyana Briar Blitz opener or something of the sorts
Based, thanks!
Question. Why do you have Kogmaw here instead of Reksai? It gives 4 Vanq and is just a better unit, in my opinion, since it can be extra tank for GP and provide more damage.
Honest answer is because that’s what the Korean 1-trick was doing. But I agree with you, Rek’Sai makes more sense. Arcanist doesn’t really do anything for the board unless I am missing something and Rek’Sai providing a small damage boost is nice. Stats SLIGHTLY prefer Rek’Sai as well, although the sample is much lower than Kog’Maw. Thanks for pointing out.
I believe kog is because when playing any of the bronze for life traits is the best you can get as far as maximizing traits.
Late game board at level 9 has room for 1 Unit, Warden (usually loris over ornn) gives 1 trait where kog activates 2 traits which atleast for the prismatic variant is a nice amp to both damage and tankiness;
A lot of times youll go kog/cho + reksai to unlock rift harold and kog is a good item holder for belveth
