Tips & Tricks
- You’ll want to play as many Bilgewater units as possible early game to get to Tahm Kench, but eventually you should aim to transition down to 5 or fewer Bilgewater + High Quality 5 costs. There are MANY variations. Use the dropdown box above the board to see them all.
- After the B-patch, it is LIKELY not correct to buy Lucky Doubloon anymore but this is not solved yet. For now, high level players are foregoing the nerfed Doubloon and focusing on saving serpents to buy the 7 Bilgewater items.
- You need 7 Bilgewater to unlock the “good” items (not Doubloon or Captain’s Brew). Realistically you won’t get all of them, but you can place 7 Bilgewater on your board before refreshing or buying from the shop which will give you a 7 Bilgewater shop.
- For feeding Tahm Kench, you should only feed him low cost units until you hit your upgraded board. 2-star 1-costs are especially efficient to feed him, but typically not easy to get. Remember to prioritize your econ for unit upgrades over feeding (no matter how much you want to feed).
- Can also play around Gangplank easily instead of Twisted Fate + Kindred. Can also drop to 3 Bilgewater
- Gangplank ideally wants QSS + HoJ and then a flexible 3rd item. The 3rd item is ideally a Bilgewater item or Artifact, but can also be Shojin or Steraks
- Late game, after you buy two 7 Bilgewater items, you can stop toggling and just go for Nautilus 3 using 3 Bilgewater shops (which have a higher chance of offering Nautilus)

Economy Strategy
- Level to 4 if you have upgrades and a good item to place on one of those upgrades.
- Level to 5, unless on 3 loss streak.
- Level to 6 if on 4+ win streak (scout to see if necessary in high elo) or can stay above 40g.
- Level to 6, unless you would go below 30g. If you have to stay level 5 due to low gold (rare), then level to 6 on 3-5.
- Level to 7 if you can stay above 30g, otherwise stay level 6.
- Level to 7.
- Level to 8. Roll for desired comp until stable. “Stable” changes depending on rank, items, augments, composition, and patch. Melee carries and tanks get the biggest spike for 2-stars. Usually stable involves 2-star tank or carry and some other supporting 2-stars. Try not to roll below 10g.
- If you are weak (e.g., have no 2-star 4-costs), consider rolling again to 10g here. If you are stable, save gold to go 9.
- If you are low HP and haven’t 2-starred your carry and tank, roll to 0g. If you have medium to high HP with an upgraded + itemized 4-cost unit and some other upgrades, save gold to go 9.
- If high HP, consider waiting until 5-5 to go level 9. If medium HP, consider going level 9 if you can roll 20g or wait until 5-5. If low HP and can afford to go 9, do so even if you have almost no gold to roll on 9. If you can’t afford to go 9 this game, roll every turn for upgrades.
- Level to 9 if possible. From this point onward, look to level to 9. Acknowledge games where level 9 is not possible and roll every turn on 8 to preserve placements.
- For max cap games, you can either roll on 9 or level to 10. If you are itemizing a 5-cost carry and it is 1-starred, roll on 9. If you have all your main itemized units upgraded, level to 10.

lucky doubloon now gives 1 silver serpent per takedown
Did something get hotfixed?
Just played a game with 5-6 Bilge (never 7), very quickly ran out of bilge shop rerolls and also never saw a doubloons or brew, reached a point where stat or champ purchases hit 60+ and even then, buying them couldn’t reveal items or rerolls.
i have no idea how to win doing this. i always get the early bilgewater and no matter what i do i end up 8/7th place
me neither. This comp feels like rly hard to maintain winstreak, and need lots of things to do each round. Its logic cant fit me 🙁
I feel the same, can’t do much when the shop doesn’t give me the “good” items, its just too much RNG for me
Viego is another good unit especially two star you can run if you get an early TF
liar
in the drop down menu, 5 bilgewater is named 3 bilgewater (freljord), im guessing the main line which used to be 5 bilgewater swapped with the frejord board but the names havnt relayed the change yet.
That’s exactly what happened lol thanks, fixed
got navori from 1st aug, slammed on TF, 100 HP level 10 at 5-7 its that OP.
Yeah just finished, 1st place, 1 MF away from 3*, only hit 3* TF at the last minute. 100 HP win. And I 100% attribute it to Flickerblade TF on R1.
Thanks for including the artifact builds, just had a gp orb living forge game. Got a tip for those who want to play bilgewater. If you have the black market restock in your shop on 5 bilgewater, put 7 bilgewater in for the restock to see a superior item or two. Once they are in your black market shop they will not go away if you drop down to 5, but you won’t find more unless you go back to 7.
wouldnt rageblade be really good on MF?
just did RB on mf, it worked great.
