Tips & Tricks
  • Can itemize Yasuo or Gangplank with melee items until you find Yone
  • With Mentors, make sure you only play 1 or exactly 4. This means that you will end up holding Mentors on bench until you find the 4th one (similar to Emissary from Set 13 or Ninja from Set 4)
  • Void Staff and Archangel are Ryze’s best items — all other items are flexible between Striker’s, Shojin, Rabadon’s, Gunblade, etc.
  • On level 8, Colossal for Udyr 2 or Jarvan 2 is quite strong as 4 Mentor 3 Mighty Mech fits well on 7 units and it helps save gold while pushing to level 9
  • Power Up options are shown for Udyr / Jarvan because you will often use your Power Up on them in Stage 4, but once you have Yone + Ryze, typically your Power Ups will go on those two units
  • Ryze’s best items are Void Staff, Striker’s Flail, and Archangel. Always try to build him with these items. Other solid items include Rabadon’s, Gunblade, and Blue Buff

Economy Strategy
  1. Level to 4 if you have upgrades and a good item to place on one of those upgrades.
  2. Level to 5, unless on 3 loss streak.
  3. Level to 6 if on 4+ win streak (scout to see if necessary in high elo) or can stay above 40g.
  4. Level to 6, unless you would go below 30g. If you have to stay level 5 due to low gold (rare), then level to 6 on 3-5.
  5. Level to 7 if you can stay above 30g, otherwise stay level 6.
  6. Level to 7.
  7. Level to 8. Roll for desired comp until stable. “Stable” changes depending on rank, items, augments, composition, and patch. Melee carries and tanks get the biggest spike for 2-stars. Usually stable involves 2-star tank or carry and some other supporting 2-stars. Try not to roll below 10g.
  8. If you are weak (e.g., have no 2-star 4-costs), consider rolling again to 10g here. If you are stable, save gold to go 9.
  9. If you are low HP and haven’t 2-starred your carry and tank, roll to 0g. If you have medium to high HP with an upgraded + itemized 4-cost unit and some other upgrades, save gold to go 9.
  10. If high HP, consider waiting until 5-5 to go level 9. If medium HP, consider going level 9 if you can roll 20g or wait until 5-5. If low HP and can afford to go 9, do so even if you have almost no gold to roll on 9. If you can’t afford to go 9 this game, roll every turn for upgrades.
  11. Level to 9 if possible. From this point onward, look to level to 9. Acknowledge games where level 9 is not possible and roll every turn on 8 to preserve placements.
  12. For max cap games, you can either roll on 9 or level to 10. If you are itemizing a 5-cost carry and it is 1-starred, roll on 9. If you have all your main itemized units upgraded, level to 10.

I genuinely had more success with Karma instead of Senna in this comp.
I understand Senna is just here for synergy, but for some reason karma in her stead has been working really well…
    Any opinions or thoughts?!

Prowler’s Claw feels very very good here. Amazing early on GP (especially with Midas Touch, where he’ll zip around executing the whole board for infinite gold) and seems fine to transfer to Yone later

in akali version the power up is on 3 people, just letting you know

    1. Author avatarGM Blue

Intentional — There is a tip that indicates the prio is Ryze and Yone. But often you will not have Yone in Stage 4, so Akali will get it in that version until you can find and itemize Yone — similar to how Jarvan or Udyr can also get it on level 8.

    who gets the executioner emblem?

    1. Author avatarGM Blue

Yone — you can see it listed in his alt builds.

why is there rabadons on yasuo in the 5mech and legendary version

    1. Author avatarGM Blue

Lol thanks — The answer is because I recently developed a “sync” feature that will copy another champion’s items and power ups. It is meant to make my life easier so that I only need to change items and power ups in one variation and it gets propagated to all other variations. Unfortunately it hasn’t been bug tested too much yet so that slipped through the cracks and Yasuo ended up copying Akali’s items without my knowledge. Fixed.

any thoughts about tank items being on udyr instead of j4? Was watching greg did that, and i kinda see it being better. 4 mentor buff is quite decent.

    1. Author avatarGM Blue

Yeah I agree, been seeing more of it lately. Vow on Jarvan is fine still I am sure, but regular tank and utility tank items should go on Udyr. Also seen Colossal Udyr be really strong on level 8 since the level 8 board is awkward and it helps get to 9, so going to adjust the guide.
