Tips & Tricks
- While there are many board states for Ryze, the Ionia version shown in the “Main” variation is the most common and performing the best this patch.
- You can easily field a Targon unit for Ryze on most of these boards on level 10 if there isn’t a Targon unit on level 9.
- For any Kennen + Kobuko variations, play from a Yordle opener and econ augments with Teemo as AP item holder. See the Fast 9 Guide on the website for more information. Transition to this board once you get to 9.

Economy Strategy
- Without econ augment, fast 9 is almost impossible without win-streak.
- Level to 4 if you have upgrades and a good item to place on one of those upgrades.
- Level to 5, unless on 3-loss streak.
- Level to 6 if on 4+ win streak (scout to see if necessary in high elo) or can stay above 40g.
- Level to 6, unless you would go below 30g. If you have to stay level 5 due to low gold (rare), then level to 6 on 3-5.
- Level to 7 if you can stay above 30g, otherwise stay level 6.
- Level to 7, or 8 if you can stay above 30g.
- Level to 8. Main difference from Fast 8 is how much you roll on 8. Ideally you are high HP and don’t need to roll at all. Otherwise, roll for acceptable board and accumulate gold afterward.
- Level to 9 if you are rich enough to roll 40g+. Generally only possible with economy augment or encounter.
- Level to 9 if you can roll 40g+ or if low HP.
- Level to 9 and roll for important 5-costs. For the remainder of game, roll until you hit your 2 star itemized units. Can consider level 10 after hitting.

ryze has been the most difficult top 4 or even unlock I’ve been chasing , not even xerath was this disgusting and complicated , I’m so tilted right now , I though Xerath and Ixtal were the worst but I was so wrong , doesn’t help that even in normal queue I’ve been against sweaty lobbies wtf, rant over , delete ryze
That ryze build doesn’t look good in the stats
Fixed, thanks. It was best in slot during PBE (double nashor JG), but since then it has changed to Shojin + Void + AP or Shojin + JG + AP / Striker typically.
I started playing Ryze today and immediately went Top 2 – 5 out of 6 times. Such a fun comp to play !
Ixtal Ryze is OP, its basically give every single region skill. I’m spamming this comp with average top 4. And Guarantee top 2 with *2-star Ryze.
Neeko, Poppy, Xin Zhao, Kennen, Nidalee, Skarner, Lux. Sett, Ryze. The ixtal cashout is not important, stick to the fast 9 strategy with either Yordles or Path of “Econ” Ionia. If you dont have luck to find Neekos for Nidalee, other ixtal is just fine and if you got brock you’ll replace any ixtal you want anyway.
I usually solo frontline Sett with AP items and its work well. Too well actually.
Ryze’s Spell keep bouncing, even if he’s the only unit left. And easily execute any tanks after he got Void region’s spell.
If the game has Path of Prosperous, he will print money every round (and if he got the shurima spell also).
LVL 10 just add any targon, so he can gain more other spell even faster.

I think you can angle into it with either an Ionia opener or Yordle opener, as you need to unlock Kennen and Kobuko.
I’ve played it a couple times and it basically functions as a fast 8 board that also spikes hard when you go 9 (ryze unlock). Roll for your 2 stars on 8, and Lissandra 2 can hold ryze items while you econ back up to go 9. Ryze 2 with the items is basically guaranteed top 3
You also have no left over traits which is satisfying
Back to only needing 4 region traits, but he’s unlocked at level 9 now

You can still get Ryze at 8. Just less comp option to get him.
the main problem is trying to get the units to even unlock ryze. and them being strong enough. so far unlocking kennen is a pain, poppy xin and then ori, vi sona, ari, zoe, then transition. staying healthy is the issue
For Ryze unlock now (5 regions), you require the package even more now: Kennen + Poppy + Xin Zhao + Ionia unit + Demacia Unit + Targon Unit + 2 Void or 2 Piltover usually.
Patch notes indicate you will need 5 regions to unlock him

You play 1 Targon unit to unlock Ryze then sell it to play the guaranteed Ryze next shop on the board…
This ryze guide is incredible. Can’t wait to see stats on the biggest potential combo but I’ve been loving the gold from Shurima, and I’m interested how high he can scale with Shadow Isles.
