Tips & Tricks
- Generally only play from econ augment on 2-1, ideally one that gives you free rolls for Bard, or Ixtal Expeditionist. Can also play if you natural Ixtal on 2-1.
- For unlocking Orianna and Skarner, aim to do it during neutrals (3-7 for Orianna and 4-7 for Skarner typically). Can also unlock Orianna during quests that encourage losing. You won’t hit Orianna 3 in many games due to 3-7 unlock.
- Late game you can cap around Swain + Shyvana as the Arcanist trait is worth a lot for the comp. Check the dropdown box above the comp for reference
- If you are rich enough, you can go for Sylas and move Nidalee items over to him once you hit him
- Item priority is typically Neeko > Bard = Milio > Nidalee > Orianna. Orianna can be played around if you were forced to slam Rageblade early. You can technically also play melee bruiser items on Vi for late game Brock, but this is a less consistent gameplan
- Neeko 3 unlocks Nidalee even though the game doesn’t say so. You can wait to unlock Nidalee until after you hit Neeko 3 if you aren’t able to play two Neeko 2’s during a PvE round.
- Thief’s Gloves is a high value item because it allows you to prioritize itemizing Neeko, Bard, and Milio while also having full items on Nidalee. Highly recommend prioritizing TG after tank items on Neeko and AP items on one backline carry.
- Swordsmith only clickable if you’ve unlocked Brock already and don’t have items for him.
- Generally with Ixtal, you want to avoid spending too much gold or too many rolls on turns when you don’t have a quest that provides you Sunshards for these actions. In the reroll line, you will want to stabilize in Stage 3, but otherwise save your gold when possible.

Economy Strategy
- Level to 4 if you have upgrades and a good item to place on one of those upgrades.
- Level to 5, unless on 3 loss streak.
- Level to 6. Roll until stable. “Stable” changes depending on rank, items, augments, composition, and patch, but generally speaking it involves 2-starring your desired 2-cost carry and a tank with items. Major divergence between elos: The lower your elo, the less upgrades you need to be “stable” and thus lower elo players should generally roll less than high elo players on 3-2.
- After your 3-2 rolldown, you should attempt to rebuild your economy to 50g.
- Once you reach 50g (it might be later than 3-5), start slow rolling down to ~52g each turn. Try to avoid rolling to exactly 50g as any unit you want to buy in shop will put you below 50g.
- If you are high HP relative to the lobby, continue slow rolling to 52g each turn. If you are lower HP, you should roll to hit your first 2-cost 3 star on 4-1 or 4-2. If you have to roll below 30g, your placement is usually capped at 3rd or 4th.
- If you are still high HP (70+), you can continue to slow roll. Otherwise, in the majority of cases, you should roll deep for your 3-stars here. If your HP is low, you can even go to 0 gold looking for your 3-stars. If you have your 3-stars and can afford to level to 7 with 10g+, do so.
- Level to 7 if you haven’t already.
- Level to 8 as soon as possible. This may not happen until 5-5 or in some games, stage 6.
- Level to 9 whenever possible. This is rare, but can happen in the games you have a chance of winning.

I’ve never been able to make this comp work, but maybe I’m just bad.
Do you play 4 2 costs at lv5 with Milio for Two Much Value, or do you put in Qiyana with 3 2 costs for early Ixtal quests? Either way feel like you are losing vital strength.
I think putting this comp as a baseline B tier comp really highlights how Blue has not actually played this comp and has virtually no experience with it. There are so many factors that go in to making this comp work and you have to really high roll to even play it. You need an augment like Trade Sector or Prismatic Ticket to actually play this in the first place or expect to go 7th or 8th. But you also need to run 3 piltover to unlock Orianna, which means getting a Loris early (because the only other Piltovers are Caitlyn and Vi) and you need to simultaneously stack Ixtal so you can eventually unlock Brock, which means getting Milio early too. So basically you need to have one of those augments and find an early Neeko, Loris, and Milio to even play this comp. Ya, this comp is basically only playable if you hit god tier levels of luck early and can begin stacking. It’s entirely impractical otherwise
Dislike how you phrased this, but whatever. I want to address your main points: The comp should have a required condition for Ixtal opener, and there should be a tip that mentions you need a way to unlock Bard without trashing your entire economy. For the record, this is the same for all Bard comps and will be for the entire set. I updated the comp guide with both of these, they are valid criticisms.
However, I think the site makes obvious that the other way to play Ixtal is better in the meta currently. I think it makes clear that you should only play this from reroll augment, otherwise you should play Ixtal opener into the other Brock boards. I feel like you aren’t really looking at this holistically. You see the B-tier rank for this comp and say it doesn’t deserve that rank, but are missing that Ixtal opener has another comp that is rated A-tier and so there MUST be conditions that encourage you to play this line over that one effectively, which is basically a pseudo way of saying avoid this line unless you specifically have a reroll augment.
Also, for the record, several other websites rank the comp similarly (at the time of posting this comment):
1) TFT Academy: A-tier ( https://tftacademy.com/tierlist/comps/set-16-neeko-ori )
2) MetaTFT Sologesang’s List: A-tier ( https://www.metatft.com/pro-comps )
3) TFT Handbook: A-tier ( https://www.tfthandbook.com/#Bard%20Ixtal%20Reroll )
4) TFTips (Title’s website): A-tier (https://tftips.app/comps/ixtal-bard)
5) DataTFT: C-tier ( https://www.datatft.com/comps/tier?id=114&source=rank )
The comp is not as trash as you all make it out to be, it’s just far more situational than it was during PBE. Also, the comp is a bit harder to play than other lines so it’s understandable why people can’t get it to work unless it’s disgustingly broken like it was during PBE.
dogwater comp
ts so ass it makes you think if this whole site is just to troll
tbh only decent if you hit 3 ixtal 10 loss before 3-5 then u can safe brock and stack rerrolls
dont make the same mistake i did, make sure to keep a copy of qiyana for 5 ixtal so you can keep healing before you unlock brock
Ixtal is the only line that I’ve never found success with. I go 7th-8th one round before I unlock brock. I feel like this reroll variant is also cucked by anyone playing Sion/Bard even though in theory the bag size is big enough to support two players.
