Tips & Tricks
  • Ideally get Colossal on Udyr. The board fits perfectly on 8 with Colossal Udyr and he is quite strong with good items
  • Realistically, you are never hitting Udyr 3 unless you somehow get 3 or more lesser duplicators or somehow natural 5 or more by 4-1. NEVER roll on 7. Focus on pushing levels after hitting 2 stars.
  • On level 9, Kayle 2 can do damage so leftover items can go onto her instead of Lee Sin if you can’t hit good Lee Sin items or you can’t 2 star him
  • Ideal augments for this comp are likely econ on 2-1 and then full combat for rest of game. Combat augments are highly desirable and it might even be correct to play for only combat augments with Colossal Udyr since the board is cheaper (one less unit to play)
  • Moonlight Kayle provides another carry option, especially if you have excess AP items
  • If you have Duelist Emblem, consider playing around Twisted Fate. He is best with utility items like Red Buff and Last Whisper, but can also be played as a normal carry.

Economy Strategy
  1. Level to 4 if you have upgrades and a good item to place on one of those upgrades.
  2. Level to 5, unless on 3 loss streak.
  3. Level to 6 if on 4+ win streak (scout to see if necessary in high elo) or can stay above 40g.
  4. Level to 6, unless you would go below 30g. If you have to stay level 5 due to low gold (rare), then level to 6 on 3-5.
  5. Level to 7 if you can stay above 30g, otherwise stay level 6.
  6. Level to 7.
  7. Level to 8. Roll for desired comp until stable. “Stable” changes depending on rank, items, augments, composition, and patch. Melee carries and tanks get the biggest spike for 2-stars. Usually stable involves 2-star tank or carry and some other supporting 2-stars. Try not to roll below 10g.
  8. If you are weak (e.g., have no 2-star 4-costs), consider rolling again to 10g here. If you are stable, save gold to go 9.
  9. If you are low HP and haven’t 2-starred your carry and tank, roll to 0g. If you have medium to high HP with an upgraded + itemized 4-cost unit and some other upgrades, save gold to go 9.
  10. If high HP, consider waiting until 5-5 to go level 9. If medium HP, consider going level 9 if you can roll 20g or wait until 5-5. If low HP and can afford to go 9, do so even if you have almost no gold to roll on 9. If you can’t afford to go 9 this game, roll every turn for upgrades.
  11. Level to 9 if possible. From this point onward, look to level to 9. Acknowledge games where level 9 is not possible and roll every turn on 8 to preserve placements.
  12. For max cap games, you can either roll on 9 or level to 10. If you are itemizing a 5-cost carry and it is 1-starred, roll on 9. If you have all your main itemized units upgraded, level to 10.

    Would add adaptive style augment as one of conditions to bump it up a tier or two. Also if you get AP artifact Viego seems to be doing great with it. Suggesting to add Viego as one of potential carry units Stretchy arms also seems decent on him

    Maybe I’m too low rank to fully understand this but how much Pandora’s items prismatic isn’t atleast +1 Tier? It gives you a radiant item that you can potentially reroll for BIS items and you can reroll all your items into BIS items regardless.

      Radiant pandoras is generally good for any comp, but only if you actually hit the radiant you want. For a given radiant there is ~2% chance to hit per round, higher of course if there are multiple acceptable options. But if you actually roll the radiant, you are getting less value than silver pandoras each round while everyone else in the lobby has an actual prismatic augment. The best use is to try to slam a decent radiant asap and play around what you get. Compared to relics which gives you multiple options at once and refactor, which doesnt give you an extra item but lets you choose, it does potentially have more power, but only when you hit early enough.

      TLDR: Kraken>Rageblade>Stoneplate>Gunblade ; by the nature of the game, tank/melee items tend to be weaker than backline/carry items when Radiant form, + youre a ramping up comp and this meta is about stalling fights

    Final ascension worth mentionning here? Udyr can mostly tank for 15 seconds and by that time Ashe can one-shot the rest

    In the super late game,(Stage 6) putting Gangplank and Zyra’s deadly spine on A1 and A7 is better than solo frontline Udyr, your Udyr will get blowned up, tossed by Braum, or Unstopped before titans, on Stage 4 and starting Stage 5 you still want to position as shown above

      You’re playing this wrong, you basically never go for Udyr 3

      Udyr 2 is strong AF and allows you to push levels, that’s why its called “tempo” duelists

      Fixed, just an update anomaly. Radiant rageblade used to be +2 tiers, moved it down after it got nerfed but forgot to move down Refactor.

    Do you still play Colossal with Keepers? You lose 1 unit of shield value and positioning becomes tricky with Colossal+Keepers.

    U are not that much right about the augment selection, I looked kinda deep into the korean OTPs who are running it, and 90% of the time they take full combat augments for the sheer spike u must get on 8. I think it needs to be emphasized to only focus on the combat augments.

      I specifically highlight the importance of combat augments and the ONLY differing opinion is taking a gold econ augment on 2-1. I am 100% confident that this is, at the very least, not “much wrong”. I’ll hold off on changing it until I see more games of it myself. There is almost ZERO comps where it is wrong to take gold econ over combat on 2-1, including Voli. But I will keep an eye for it due to your comment — I am not ignoring it, but I just really want to highlight that taking gold econ augment on 2-1 for a level 8 comp has not been wrong for almost any comp for the last year practically.

          All good mate — I am not surprised to hear that. 2/3 combat sounds good to me, duelists in prior sets have always liked combat. But for 2-1, it’s typically item or econ over combat unless the combat is extremely good for the comp (like Keepers). I know I am just repeating my last comment basically, but I don’t mean anything hostile either. I will keep an open mind and see how the comp evolves.
