Tips & Tricks
- Lucian is a better item holder early game than Janna or Ziggs, so itemize him if you can upgrade him. Can also potentially consider Gnar with Rageblade with a Crew opener (Sivir Malphite Gnar Kennen etc.)
- Core Akali items are Rageblade + Archangel. Third item is ideally Shojin, but could be second Archangel, QSS, Striker’s Flail, EoN, etc.
- Crimson Veil is looking to be the best power up so far — consider rolling for it. Dark Amulet is probably okay with some combat augments, but hard to survive with it compared to Crimson Veil.
- You can play Darius, Jarvan, Lee Sin, or Zyra on 9.
- Positioning is important. If the opponent’s carry is in the corner, position 3 hexes in from left for left corner and 3 hexes in from the right for right corner. If they move their carry, match their move — you only need to move Akali in this comp as she won’t take aggro at the start of a fight.
- Yuumi is a particularly dangerous unit against Akali because she can kill Akali without targeting her. If you have a Yuumi player in your pool, prioritize positioning for them.
- The comp really wants a radiant or artifact item on Akali or one of the broken combat augments. Outside of that, it is more of a top 4 comp.
- For the Cloning Facility augment, clone K’Sante.

Economy Strategy
- Level to 4 if you have upgrades and a good item to place on one of those upgrades.
- Level to 5, unless on 3 loss streak.
- Level to 6 if on 4+ win streak (scout to see if necessary in high elo) or can stay above 40g.
- Level to 6, unless you would go below 30g. If you have to stay level 5 due to low gold (rare), then level to 6 on 3-5.
- Level to 7 if you can stay above 30g, otherwise stay level 6.
- Level to 7.
- Level to 8. Roll for desired comp until stable. “Stable” changes depending on rank, items, augments, composition, and patch. Melee carries and tanks get the biggest spike for 2-stars. Usually stable involves 2-star tank or carry and some other supporting 2-stars. Try not to roll below 10g.
- If you are weak (e.g., have no 2-star 4-costs), consider rolling again to 10g here. If you are stable, save gold to go 9.
- If you are low HP and haven’t 2-starred your carry and tank, roll to 0g. If you have medium to high HP with an upgraded + itemized 4-cost unit and some other upgrades, save gold to go 9.
- If high HP, consider waiting until 5-5 to go level 9. If medium HP, consider going level 9 if you can roll 20g or wait until 5-5. If low HP and can afford to go 9, do so even if you have almost no gold to roll on 9. If you can’t afford to go 9 this game, roll every turn for upgrades.
- Level to 9 if possible. From this point onward, look to level to 9. Acknowledge games where level 9 is not possible and roll every turn on 8 to preserve placements.
- For max cap games, you can either roll on 9 or level to 10. If you are itemizing a 5-cost carry and it is 1-starred, roll on 9. If you have all your main itemized units upgraded, level to 10.
any of the buffs change her itemization since they nerfed AA staff, rageblade, no more vamp and 6 protector nerf
Any of the item changes make her better?
Dawncore Akali > Kogma
Actually destroyed artifact starter lobby with Dawncore, Shojin, Arc
the comp sucks, akali has been killed. gg
Massive nerf to this comp in the C-patch (or D patch depending on how you are keeping count) for 15.2. Probably not playable, Akali got hit very hard. Itemization is probably different too. No data yet, but play at your own risk.
Flicker not good here?
Flicker stacks AS per attack, but Akali is more of a Spam Caster, the Rageblade scales her AS while shes Casting and no autoing, I believe this is why Flicker is not so good on her
this new comp is genuinely so boring for tft as a whole, it literally feels so bad to verse, even with akali not getting on my main carry until her 4rth cast she still just eventually wipes the board, (i was level 9 with kayle reroll on the start of stage 5) its so pathetic man, and sure 1 game isnt a big enough sample size to say its busted but thats the funny part cuz in my last TEN games akali players just perma top 2 with no contest
I think Red Buff over Rageblade should get a closer look, the dot executes people and she applies it to almost everyone that u need it to and it gives anotehr 3% dmg amp over rageblade and all u need is the 2 autos to get her to casting, yes Rageblade makes her be almost never on the field far enough into a fight.
Should be able to counter cubby positioning (enemy carry C1) by placing your tanks on the C-row and placing your Akali C5/C6 so their frontline walks up and makes it 4 hexes to C1. This is pure speculation though. Haven’t actually had a late-game 1v1 where my opponent was doing the cubby positioning. Someone try this and let me know if it works.
Should be enough actually to have no units on A5+A6 and then Ryze B4 and Akali C5. Their A3 frontliner will walk up and give your Akali exactly 4 hexes to the cubby. Should be guaranteed and also has the bonus of giving Akali damage amp from Strat.
This comp is ass, just pure luck wether your akali bullshits enough to get to their carry. Even with a much stronger board you will end up capping low just due to placement RNG and their carry instantly going for your akali
You can chose Akali target by placement, isnt RNG, works like set 14 Zed
I think the cap is 4 supreme cell 2 akali’s, they both become the supreme cell. 4 protector – 2+ executioner – 4 supreme cell – 2+ Strategist. 2nd akali void morello build maybe.
Better replace Shojin to EoN when encounter Yuumi, that fucking cat always 1 shot my Akali 2
Just had a giga highroll with this comp, got akali at 2-3 w/ crimson veil on first fruit, 2 star at 3-5 and Mr 100’d the entire game. Definitely felt illegal.
2nd place also ran the same comp, so even contested its showing good results.
High burst champs are definitely scary to go up against, only came close to losing when Akali got targeted by a manazane Kai’sa but was at a point where my Ryze and K’sante could clean up. Lobby was not ready for this comp, was vs Ashe, Kai’sa, Jhin and Karma boards in which Akali just devours. Fights were either over fast if Akali was correct side, or over in 15 seconds. The protectors provided enough stall for Akali to 1v9. Can imagine this comp doing worse if there more burst/melee comps in the lobby.
got 3star Akali with Radiant Archangels, Rageblade and Radiant Blue Buff on Prismatic Party, beat out 3star Volibear and 3star Samira on Edgelord board for first
My read after the first day of studying this comp: Crimson Veil is best Power Up by far. The comp does not cap high due to the lack of a good secondary carry usually. But it is a strong comp when played from a good spot — those good spots being mainly artifacts and radiant items, as well as some strong combat augments like Sated Spellweaver and Backup Dancers.
Edge of Night is not mandatory. Plenty of builds performing well with Rageblade + Archangel, including Shojin / Striker’s / Titans / Second Archangel / QSS / etc. Core Akali is rageblade + archangel, don’t sweat the 3rd item slot too much.
Here’s what isn’t solved yet: Is this the best board to abuse Akali? Don’t know yet. I expect we’ll see more of that in the coming days. Anyway, that’s my read for today. Take it or leave it. Feel free to keep sharing your experiences.
Concerning Isekai, I’ve heard from a study group partner that Ekko cast resets Akali’s marks and thus should not be clicked. Not sure about the info but should be investigated.
While looking at very high elo end boards, I’ve found some players in Asia play 3 Supreme Cells, 3 Mighty Mechs (Aatrox, J4, Karma) + K’Sante + Ryze version. This version may be preferable in high ressource games as you have a good secondary carry in Karma (better than Ryze imo) and a good secondary tank in J4 at level 8, thus benifitting both from high econ and multiple items in comparison to the cheap 6 protectors main board.
It also resets enemy akali marks?
I removed it — I used a relatively advanced filter that I think would mostly look at the stats for this comp with Ekko and it does not look that strong. It also doesn’t look that bad either, but the fact it isn’t massively negative delta like one would expect (since this comp’s biggest issue is the lack of a duo carry and Ekko provides that), there is definitely some sort of issue and I suspect you are correct. Haven’t seen it personally though.
alternatively thrillseeker is a decent fruit as well
seekers armguard viable and tuff js clutched me an 8th
It’s a semi-stall comp if your opponents have a lot of units in the backline, and not as great against frontline heavy comps. EoN not required if you roll Crimson Veil. Rage blade helps Akali not get stuck autoing late games.
early game spot ezreal rakan is a great item holder, really only play this while healthy; fight rng kinda wacky. had success on master elo
Just tried got an easy top 2, lost to 7 crystal gambit only
