- Artifacts and Power Ups can make a massive difference in how strong Kog’Maw is. Also generally want to play him from spots where you have Lulu early so you can start stacking levels earlier.

Economy Strategy
- Level to 4 if strong.
- Level to 5, unless on 3 loss streak.
- Level to 6, unless it places you below 30g.
- Stay level 6, unless you can stay above 50g on 7 or you are below 40 HP and can stay above 30g on 7.
- Level to 7, roll until board mostly upgraded. Never go below 10g even if missing tank or carry.
- Build up to 50g, slow roll to 50g until 5-1.
- If below ~25 HP, sometimes you must roll until you hit here. Not ideal.
- Roll until you hit 3-star carry and tank. Can go to 0g. Only greed gold if you are above ~60 HP.
- If you hit, you can level to 8. Otherwise stay 7. Holds true for every round for the rest of the game.
tft is all about luck . even if you have golden ticket and level up to 7 first in the lobby and also have a good amount of gold . there will be always someone rolling between 20 and 40 gold and getting the characters you want . and ofcourse when he hits 0 gold his chances get even higher getting the character he needs 😀 beautiful game .
Shiv is goated ASF, same as dawncore IMO if you get it early it saves so much HP
He kills backline no matter how they position
And like another comment said, i think nashor’s is worth mentionning in items, you get more front-loaded dmg which is necessary for how fast the late game fight go and you get to max attack speed anyway (or close to)
lategame when you have stacking attack speed already, nashor’s feels a little better than standard guinsoo i think
I think in the right spot (protector golem/protector+1) Ziggs can actually be a great duo carry in this comp. the only trouble is that he wants the same items as kog.
kogmaw + dawn core + fairy tales = a jungle of butterfly damage! i abused this worm at grandmaster NA, doesnt have to have kogmaw early but u will need to have high health!
I tried a version of this comp with essence share/shojin and howling gale and it seemed ridiculously good, j4 stuns so fast and neeko is basically unkillable. best if you dont run unstoppable tho because you want neeko getting the mana
Underplayed but can have success since kog has backline access. Definitely play ryze on 8. If you aren’t rich enough or don’t get a lot of neekos it looks acceptable to main tank ksante 2. Don’t know if the shojin gunblade rageblade build is still being played.
Bastion version?
i feel like dawnocre is insanely good on kog and should make it S tier, he casts constantly
Only late game/after level 15. before its pretty much worthless
Does it matter who the strategist emblem goes on? I was a bit surprised to see it’s an S-tier condition for this comp.
I played a game of this with stage 2 Lulu, +1 Protector, +1 Strategist, +1 Wraith and a Zhonya’s Paradox (spats from carousel and rerolled with Pandora’s). Was still struggling against The Crew with +1 Strategist though my augments were mostly item and econ focused which is my bad but I still managed to win. I think Lulu might be my favorite unit to play this set, and I don’t see many people playing her in my games.
Also, I recently found this site and find it a lot easier to quickly navigate and search for the information I need than some other popular TFT sites. Keep up the good work!
Is it possible to explain on who we should be using Lichbane and Zhonya’s paradox
Kog’Maw has an alt build for Zhonya’s. Lich Bane isn’t listed as an alt build on Kog’Maw was there wasn’t enough space, but Kog’Maw.
Why is this 6 Protector and Smolder is 4 Mentor? What made you make the decision that both need different frontlines?
Mostly stats, although intuitively Kog’Maw will be better with the 6 Protector / 6 Jug boards because he is more of a Gunblade carry than Smolder is. There haven’t been enough high level player games of these comps yet to know for sure though. As of right now, both Smolder and Kog’Maw can get played 4 ways:
1) Mentors
2) Protectors
3) Juggernauts
4) Heavyweights
I just picked the highest statistic (with reasonable sample size) versions of each for now until we actually know which of these variations are best. My guess is that will change with balance, but it may also become completely standardized within first patch of the set. Hard to know only 4 days into PBE.
